The Visible Thinking Continuum
Our group were interested in answering the following wonders:
1) Do certain routines fit better within different stages of learning?
2) Are some of the routines more suitable to lower years and some to older grades?
3) Can they be mapped on a continuum for reference by teachers?
We have come up with a suggested continuum mapping out the Thinking Routines. This is based on the Thinking Routine Matrix by Ritchard, Morrison & Church (Spring 2011), which categorises the routines into 3 types:
1) Routines for INTRODUCING & EXPLORING ideas
2) Routines for SYNTHESIZING & ORGANISING ideas
3) Routines for DIGGING DEEPER into ideas
